Discoverability is crucial for the NBA with new rights deals

Discoverability can be a challenge when it comes to new media rights deals, and this NBA season is no exception. The league has signed agreements with ESPN/ABC, NBC/Peacock, and Prime Video, providing fans with more ways to watch games. With additional national windows, every NBA team will play in at least two national TV games, totaling 247 national games, up from 172 last season.

So, where can fans tune in to catch their favorite teams in action? Here’s a breakdown:

– Monday: Peacock (all season)
– Tuesday: NBC/Peacock (all season)
– Wednesday: ESPN (all season)
– Thursday: Prime Video (starting midseason)
– Friday: Prime Video (all season) and ESPN (starting midseason)
– Saturday: Prime Video (afternoons); ABC (primetime) (both start midseason)
– Sunday: ABC/ESPN (afternoons); NBC/Peacock (primetime) (both start midseason)

To help fans easily find live streams, the league is introducing a digital feature through the NBA app, NBA.com, team platforms, and other league partner sites.

Fans can look forward to exciting matchups throughout the season. Keep an eye out for the Lakers facing off against Luka Doncic and his former team, the Mavericks, in four national TV games. The first matchup airs on Prime Video on Nov. 28, with ABC broadcasting Doncic’s season debut in Dallas on Jan. 24.

LeBron James and Stephen Curry are set to go head-to-head in several games this season, starting with the Lakers-Warriors game on opening night on NBC. Additional games will be broadcast on ABC, leading up to the final regular-season contest on Prime Video on April 9.

There’s also a highly anticipated Lakers game at MSG on Feb. 1, kicking off NBC’s “Sunday Night Basketball” lineup. The night will also feature the Nuggets-Thunder game.

Lastly, mark your calendars for Dec. 16, when Prime Video will air the championship of the Emirates NBA Cup, along with all seven knockout games in the in-season tourney. Prime will also broadcast all six games in the SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament.
