Apple TV+ debuts first ‘Peanuts’ musical in 37 years

Apple TV+ has just released the first Peanuts musical in 37 years, and it’s filled with catchy new songs and a heartwarming storyline. Titled “Snoopy Presents: A Summer Musical,” this 40-minute special brings back Charlie Brown and the gang as they work together to save their summer camp, Cloverhill.

Directed by Erik Wiese, the story follows Charlie Brown’s younger sister Sally, who is not a fan of summer camp. With some help from her older brother and the rest of the group, she learns to appreciate the experience. Meanwhile, the kids discover that Cloverhill is under threat of destruction, prompting Charlie Brown to devise a plan for a festival to help preserve it. While Snoopy isn’t in the spotlight this time, his antics provide plenty of comic relief.

The special uses digital animation to capture the essence of Charles M. Schultz’s original drawings, with a beautiful nod to the past during a poignant song that showcases Schultz’s 1950s style. It’s a touching moment that will resonate with fans of all ages.

Created by Craig and Charles Schulz, the son and grandson of Peanuts creator Charles M. Schultz, this musical special breathes new life into these beloved characters. Craig Schulz shared his excitement in a recent interview with The New York Times, expressing his desire to see the characters sing and dance on screen.

Apple has more Peanuts content in store, including an upcoming feature-length Snoopy movie. For now, you can stream “Snoopy Presents: A Summer Musical” on Apple TV+ and enjoy the heartwarming tale of friendship, teamwork, and the power of summer camp adventures.
