United Airlines Partners With Apple TV+ for Award-Winning Shows on In-Flight Entertainment
United Airlines has partnered with Apple TV+ to bring award-winning shows to their in-flight entertainment options. Passengers can enjoy popular series like Severance, Ted Lasso, Shrinking, Slow Horses, and Silo on United’s seatback screens and mobile app, with new shows added monthly to keep the content fresh.
As part of United’s United Next growth plan, the airline has upgraded its in-flight entertainment experience by installing over 130,000 seatback screens, with plans to reach over 300,000 screens across its fleet soon. United now offers 27-inch 4K OLED screens, the largest among U.S. carriers, making for an immersive viewing experience for travelers. Apple TV+ content is available for free on these screens, giving passengers a wide range of entertainment options during their flight.
Apple Originals will be featured through a dedicated channel on United’s seatback screens, showcasing entire seasons of hit shows like Severance, Ted Lasso, Shrinking, Slow Horses, and Silo. New content, including The Morning Show and Bad Sisters, will be added in September. In total, passengers have access to over 250 episodes of TV shows, films, and documentaries, all at no cost.
The collaboration with Apple TV+ is part of United’s commitment to providing a premium in-flight experience for its customers. By offering a seamless viewing experience through the United app or seatback screens, travelers can enjoy their favorite shows easily. Mark Muren, United’s Managing Director of Product, Identity, and Loyalty, sees this collaboration as a significant step in enhancing the inflight entertainment experience for passengers.
United has a track record of innovation when it comes to in-flight technology, being the first U.S. airline to offer Live Activities for iPhone and integrating Apple’s AirTag technology into its bag tracking system.
