Ligue 1 partners with Prime Video for DTC channel distribution in latest move

Prime Video, the popular streaming service owned by Amazon, has some exciting news for French soccer fans. They’ve teamed up with the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) to bring Ligue 1 Plus directly to viewers through a new direct-to-consumer (DTC) service. This means that starting on August 11, fans can access the service on Prime Video, just in time for the season kick-off on August 15. And here’s the best part – you don’t even need a Prime Video subscription to watch!

If you sign up between August 11 and August 31, you can lock in a discounted rate of €12.99 ($15.12) per month for an entire year. This new offering will cover eight out of the nine Ligue 1 games per matchday exclusively, with the ninth game available on BeIN Sports as a delayed broadcast. Plus, there will be two magazine shows and additional content produced by Mediawan to keep fans engaged.

This move by Prime Video is part of an effort to give fans more access to their favorite games while also providing an innovative and exciting streaming experience. Other telecom and TV companies like Bouygues Telecom, Free, Orange, and SFR, as well as the DAZN OTT service, are on board with hosting this new channel too.

Ligue 1 has had its fair share of challenges in the past when it comes to broadcasting rights, but this new channel is a step towards a more stable future. LFP President Vincent Labrune is optimistic about the project, stating that the clubs are ready for this new adventure. They are taking control of their own destiny and looking towards a brighter future for French football.

So, if you’re a soccer fan in France, get ready to experience Ligue 1 like never before with Prime Video’s new offering. It’s an exciting time for the sport, and this new channel is just the beginning of what promises to be an innovative and game-changing experience for fans.
