Independent Review Panel upholds Vancouver Whitecaps FC’s appeal of Edier Ocampo’s red card
Big news for Vancouver Whitecaps FC fans! The Independent Review Panel recently made a decision regarding Édier Ocampo’s red card, and it’s good news for the team. The panel, made up of representatives from U.S. Soccer, Canada Soccer, and the Professional Referee Organization, voted to overturn Ocampo’s one-game suspension and fine for a second yellow card he received in a recent match against the San Jose Earthquakes. This means that Ocampo is now eligible to play in the team’s upcoming game against Houston Dynamo FC on Sunday, August 17.
In case you’re wondering, each club is allowed two unsuccessful appeals per season, including the playoffs. Since Vancouver’s appeal was successful, they still have both of their appeals available for the rest of the 2025 season. So, mark your calendars and get ready to cheer on the Whitecaps in their next game!
