Buffy Reboot: Merrin Dungey, Audrey Hsieh & Audrey Grace Marshall Join Hulu Pilot
Exciting news for all the Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans out there! Merrin Dungey, Audrey Hsieh, and Audrey Grace Marshall have joined the cast of the upcoming reboot of the iconic show, which has been given a pilot order by Hulu. These talented actors will be guest stars in the pilot, with the potential to become recurring characters if the series gets picked up.
In this new chapter of the Buffyverse, Ryan Kiera Armstrong takes on the role of Nova, a high-school student with introverted tendencies who becomes the latest slayer. And guess what? Sarah Michelle Gellar is not only executive producing the show but also reprising her unforgettable role as Buffy Summers.
Dungey will be playing Ms. LaDuca, the college counselor at New Sunnydale Academy, while Hsieh and Marshall will portray Keiko and Jessica, two high school students who are part of the academy’s Evangelical Christian group.
In addition to Armstrong and Gellar, the cast includes Faly Rakotohavana, Ava Jean, Sarah Bock, Daniel Di Tomasso, and Jack Cutmore-Scott as series regulars, along with guest star/recurring actor Kingston Vernes. Keep an eye out for Chase Sui Wonders, who will have a special guest-starring role in the pilot.
The pilot is being directed by Oscar winner Chloé Zhao, with a script by Nora and Lilla Zuckerman. Titled as the next chapter in the Buffyverse, the project is a collaboration between 20th Television and Searchlight TV.
Dungey, known for her work in The Lincoln Lawyer, S.W.A.T., and Shining Vale, is represented by Gersh, Quest Entertainment & Management, and Marcy Morris at Jackoway Austen Tyerman. Hsieh, recognized for her role in Found, is repped by Buchwald, Nikki Mincks Talent Management, and Abramson Entertainment Law. Marshall, who will be seen in Peacock’s upcoming The Good Daughter limited series, is represented by Paradigm, Luber Roklin Entertainment, and attorney Ryan Goodell of Yorn Levine Barnes Krintzman Rubenstein Kohner Endlich Goodell & Gellman.
