New Netflix thriller series scarier than Midsommar

There’s something about the best horror movies that just hits differently, right? They make you think, “Could this really happen?” Well, Netflix’s new thriller series, Wayward, seems to have that same eerie quality.

Set in the mysterious town of Tall Pines, this series revolves around Tall Pines Academy, a place for troubled teenagers. And guess who’s running the show? None other than the talented Toni Collette as Evelyn Wade. If you’ve seen her in Hereditary, you know she’s no stranger to this genre.

The first trailer for Wayward gives off major Midsommar vibes with its lush landscapes and unsettling atmosphere. I mean, Midsommar was already pretty terrifying, so that’s saying something, right?

Created by Mae Martin, who also stars in the series, Wayward follows police officer Alex Dempsey as he uncovers secrets involving two desperate teenagers, Abbie and Leila, trying to escape the academy. It’s clear that something sinister is lurking beneath the surface in Tall Pines.

Now, Netflix describes Wayward as a series that blurs the lines between thriller, horror, and comedy. That’s definitely an intriguing mix to pull off, but hey, the best horror movies always keep you on your toes, right?

We’ll have to wait until the series premieres on September 25 to get the full scoop. But I’m willing to bet that a longer trailer will drop before then to give us a better idea of what to expect. So mark your calendars and get ready for some spine-tingling thrills!
