Star Trek: Archer Series Featuring Scott Bakula – Possible Future Project
Fresh out of this week’s Star Trek: Trek to Las Vegas convention comes exciting news for fans of the Star Trek universe. It looks like Captain Jonathan Archer might be making a comeback in his very own spinoff series, Star Trek: Archer.
Veteran writer and producer Michael Sussman shared at the convention that he had proposed an Archer-centric show to Paramount a while back, only to have it turned down after a few attempts. However, with the recent Paramount-Skydance merger, there’s a chance that the idea might be back on the table.
According to Sussman, the proposed show would see Archer as the President of the Federation, inspired by a brief shot in Star Trek: Enterprise. This political thriller would offer a behind-the-scenes look at the Federation’s inner workings, akin to the popular show The West Wing. Sussman even discussed the idea with Scott Bakula, who portrayed Captain Archer, and it seems like Bakula is keen on the concept.
While the initial dismissal of the show was due to financial concerns and potential overlaps with another Star Trek idea, the changing landscape post-merger has reignited hopes for its development. With fans excited about the prospect of seeing Bakula reprising his role and exploring a new dimension of Archer’s character, it seems like Star Trek: Archer could be a promising addition to the ever-expanding Star Trek universe.
