Simone Biles’ Family Urges Peacock for Change at Xfinity Championship
talents have champions fighting for their spotlight. Recently, a close family member of Olympic legend Simone Biles made a heartfelt appeal to Peacock, the official broadcaster of the 2025 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships.
Simone Biles’ sister-in-law, Sammi, took to her Instagram to share a video of herself watching the championships and called on Peacock to showcase more athletes from the WCC. The channel seemed to be limiting coverage of these talented athletes, and Sammi expressed her support, saying, “They need to show more of our WCC ladies. Wish I were there. Let’s go, WCC! Y’all look so beautiful.”
At the WCC Gym, 20% of their senior women were competing at the event, including athletes like Dulcy Caylor, Jordis Eichman, Reese Esponda, Brooke Pierson, and Tiana Sumanasekera. These athletes are carrying forward the legacy of Simone Biles’ journey to greatness. The WCC, owned by the Biles family, is an American artistic gymnastics academy located in Spring, Texas.
After a successful run at the championships, Dulcy Caylor finished 4th, Tiana Sumanasekera placed 9th, and Brooke Pierson came in 10th. Notably, Simone Biles, the reigning queen of gymnastics, has been taking a step back from the spotlight lately, giving the younger generation a chance to shine.
Since her debut in 2013, Biles has achieved incredible success in gymnastics with 23 world titles and 7 Olympic Gold medals. At the recent U.S Classic, she chose to watch from the stands rather than compete, enjoying a moment of peace away from the intense pressure of competition. Biles has hinted at retirement, wanting to end her career on her terms.
As the sport looks towards the future, the question remains: Is it time for broadcasters to spotlight future stars like the WCC athletes more prominently? The sport of gymnastics relies on visibility and recognition for rising talents, and it’s essential to give these young athletes the platform they deserve.
