‘South Park’ to Depart Current Streaming Platform After Clash with Trump
Attention all “South Park” fans! Starting this week, you won’t be able to catch new or old episodes on HBO Max anymore. Show creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone struck a deal with Paramount+ to make it the exclusive streaming home for “South Park.”
For those of you who are HBO Max subscribers, the final day to enjoy “South Park” on the platform is Tuesday, Aug. 5. As of 4 p.m. on Tuesday, the show was still up on HBO Max. It’s been available on the HBO streaming app since it launched back in 2020.
This change comes at an exciting time for “South Park” both on and off screen. The 27th season kicked off on July 23 with an episode that took some jabs at President Donald Trump. The episode poked fun at Trump’s lawsuit tendencies and even portrayed him in a peculiar romantic relationship with Satan. The episode caused a stir, with The White House releasing a statement calling the show irrelevant.
Despite the controversy, the episode was a hit in terms of ratings. It was the most watched season premiere since 1999, with a 68% increase in ratings compared to the previous season.
If you’re eager for more, the next episode of “South Park” is scheduled to air on Wednesday, Aug. 6 at 10 p.m. EST on Comedy Central. And fear not, because starting this week, all episodes of “South Park” are available for streaming on Paramount+. So, get ready to binge-watch your favorite episodes on the new platform!
