Roku Launches Ad-Free Streaming Service for $2.99/Month
Streaming fans, rejoice! Roku, the streaming pioneer, has launched a new ad-free subscription service called Howdy, priced at just $2.99 per month. This move is part of Roku’s plan to offer a diverse range of subscription options, both from third-party providers and in-house.
The platform, which is now live nationwide in the U.S., is perfect for viewers who crave uninterrupted, top-notch entertainment. At a cost equivalent to your daily cup of coffee, Howdy offers thousands of movies and series, totaling nearly 10,000 hours of content. And the best part? No ads!
CEO Anthony Wood emphasized that Howdy is designed for flexibility, with no contracts or trials—just a flat rate and zero interruptions. Lionsgate and FilmRise are among the partners providing content for the service, ensuring a wide range of options for subscribers.
Roku enthusiasts can access Howdy on their Roku devices starting August 5, with availability on mobile and other platforms coming soon. Plus, to kick off the launch, Roku will be lighting up Times Square billboards throughout August with a friendly “howdy” message, inviting passersby to subscribe and enjoy the premiere titles.
This new service joins other popular offerings like The Roku Channel (the most-watched free ad-supported streaming service in the U.S.) and Frndly TV (the second-ranked live TV subscription among cord cutters). With Roku’s increased revenue outlook and commitment to delivering top-notch content, it’s clear that the future of streaming is looking brighter than ever.
