Disney+ Adds Twisted-Wonderland to Anime Collection

Disney+ is taking anime to the next level with its latest addition, Twisted-Wonderland. This new adaptation of the popular Japanese mobile game from the Mouse House is set to premiere in October with the first season titled “Episode of Heartslabyul.” Fans can look forward to eight 22-minute episodes that follow the story of a high schooler named Yuuken Enma who finds himself at Night Raven College, a school for aspiring mages with a Disney twist. Alongside his friends Ace and Deuce, Enma will navigate challenges with the school’s dorm leader, Riddle Rosehearts, all in his quest to get back home.

The series is being produced by Tokyo-based anime studio Yumeta Company, with Takahiro Natori, known for his work on My Hero Academia and Mobile Suit Gundam 00, directing the show. Disney has also confirmed two more seasons, “Episode of Savanaclaw” and “Episode of Octavinelle,” which will be coming to the streamer at a later date.

Originally launched in Japan in 2020, the Twisted-Wonderland mobile game, developed in collaboration with Disney, Aniplex, and f4samurai, has garnered over 4.8 million downloads in Japan alone. The game continues to evolve with new story content and characters to engage players, with an international edition released in 2022 for English-speaking audiences.

With the rising popularity of anime, Disney+ has been expanding its anime offerings over the past two years. Starting with the exclusive title Summer Time Rendering, the streaming platform has added a variety of anime series to its library, including Sand Land: The Series, Go! Go! Loser Ranger, Spy x Family, My Hero Academia, and Star Wars: Visions.

Disney Twisted-Wonderland: The Animation is just the latest example of Disney’s efforts to cater to anime fans and enhance its content lineup by bringing captivating and immersive stories to audiences around the world.
