Taylor Kitsch Talks About “Friday Night Lights” Revival and His Decision Not to Return

Taylor Kitsch recently revealed that despite being asked, he won’t be returning for the upcoming “Friday Night Lights” revival on Peacock. At a press event for “The Terminal List: Dark Wolf,” Kitsch, known for his role as Tim Riggins in the original series, shared that he had been approached but ultimately declined the offer.

When asked about the new series by TheWrap, Kitsch acknowledged being aware of it but made it clear that he wouldn’t be making a comeback. The revival of “Friday Night Lights” was confirmed in November 2024, with original showrunner Jason Katims onboard. The new series will feature a fresh story and characters, with a logline hinting at a high school football team’s journey after a devastating hurricane.

While Kitsch won’t be returning, it remains to be seen if any other original cast members will reprise their roles. The fact that he was approached for the revival indicates that the creators are considering involving actors from the original series. Despite not returning to Dillon, Kitsch is focusing on a different project, building a healing space for veterans and those battling addiction in Montana.

As fans eagerly anticipate the return of “Friday Night Lights” without Kitsch in the cast, the revival promises to bring a new chapter to the beloved series. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated reboot!
