I watched a new movie on Prime Video with 0% on Rotten Tomatoes and had a blast – Yahoo

I’ve always been a fan of H.G. Wells’ “The War of the Worlds”, so when the new movie, simply titled War of the Worlds, popped up on Prime Video recently, I had to give it a watch. Starring Ice Cube, the film takes a different approach by unfolding almost entirely on a computer screen as the main character navigates alien invasions and a mysterious hacker.

Despite its 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the movie is a wild ride. Ice Cube plays a Department of Homeland Security officer caught in the chaos of alien attacks and mass surveillance drama. The film’s attempt to critique surveillance falls short as Ice Cube ultimately uses it to save the day. And let’s not forget the shameless product placements that are impossible to miss – from Tesla and Amazon to Microsoft and Apple, they are everywhere.

While the movie may not be a critical darling, watching it with friends and a glass of wine turned it into a hilarious “so bad it’s good” experience. Drinking games to spot the never-ending product placements definitely helped lighten the mood. Trust me, there’s no shortage of opportunities to take a sip.

In the end, War of the Worlds may not be a cinematic masterpiece, but it sure knows how to entertain. So, grab some popcorn, round up your friends, and maybe a drink or two, and get ready for a movie experience unlike any other.
