Nancy Meyers Responds to ‘The Holiday’ Series on Apple TV+: ‘News to Me’

After the news broke that Apple TV+ is working on a limited series based on Nancy Meyers’ beloved Christmas romcom “The Holiday,” fans were buzzing with excitement. However, what came as a surprise to many was Meyers’ reaction to the project. In an Instagram story, the 75-year-old director made it clear that she had no prior knowledge of the series, saying, “News to me.”

For those unfamiliar, “The Holiday” tells the story of Iris (Kate Winslet) and Amanda (Cameron Diaz), two women who swap homes for a change of scenery and end up finding love with Jack Black and Jude Law, respectively.

Despite Deadline’s report that Meyers is not involved in the adaptation, the network is moving forward with casting well-known actresses for the leading roles. Krissie Ducker is set to write and executive produce the series, with Rob Delaney serving as a consultant.

While fans might have hoped for a sequel, back in 2022 Meyers clarified on Instagram that there were no plans in the works. However, a recent reunion with Law reignited speculation about a potential follow-up. During a lunch caught on camera, Meyers playfully teased Law about a sequel, to which he responded that he would only be interested if Meyers was on board.

So, while fans eagerly await more news about the upcoming series, it seems like Nancy Meyers herself is just as surprised as the rest of us about this latest development.
