South Park to Leave HBO Max as Paramount+ Secures Exclusive Rights
“South Park” fans, get ready for a big change! The beloved show is leaving HBO Max next week as Paramount+ secured exclusive streaming rights. This means the first 26 seasons will no longer be available on HBO Max starting August 5, 2025.
Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone signed a lucrative deal with Paramount Global, estimated at $300 million per year, totaling $1.5 billion. As part of this new deal, 50 new episodes of “South Park” have been ordered. Exciting news for fans – all 26 previous seasons will be streaming on Paramount+ for the first time!
The premiere of Season 27 of “South Park” made big waves with its sharp satire of President Trump. Despite a delay in the premiere, the episode drew in a whopping 5.9 million viewers, the show’s biggest premiere since 1999. The White House criticized the episode, calling out the show for being “irrelevant” and “desperate for attention.”
Parker and Stone faced some challenges with the release of Season 27, with a delay in the premiere date due to negotiations with Paramount Skydance president Jeff Shell. Despite the setbacks, fans can look forward to more hilarious and boundary-pushing episodes in the future.
