Freely announces budget-friendly alternative to Sky Stream, coming soon
Freely is getting ready to launch its own streaming box, providing an affordable alternative to platforms like Sky Stream. This little device, known as a puck, will give you access to live and on-demand TV on any TV, even if it doesn’t have built-in streaming capabilities.
The Freely platform offers a variety of streaming services, including BBC iPlayer, ITVX, Channel 4, and PBS America. Initially available on next-gen smart TVs, Freely is now expanding to devices like this puck. This means you can enjoy over 40 channels without the need for messy cables or a satellite dish, working seamlessly with brands like Hisense, Panasonic, and TCL.
The puck is a sleek and modern device, created in partnership with French tech company Netgem, promising a user-friendly experience. It will feature the same interface as Freely Smart TVs, including a handy TV Guide with a week’s worth of programming, along with the ability to save your favorite shows.
CEO Jonathan Thompson from Everyone TV shared that Freely’s goal is to make free TV accessible to everyone. This new device is a step towards that vision, eliminating the need for costly TV upgrades or subscriptions. While we’re still in the dark about the pricing, this budget-friendly alternative could be a game-changer among its competitors like Sky Stream and Apple TV 4K. Stay tuned for more updates as the launch date approaches.
