Peacock Introduces New ‘Select’ Subscription Plan for Users

One great way to figure out which live TV or on-demand streaming service is right for you is by comparing them side by side. For example, you can look at the differences between YouTube TV, Hulu Live TV, and Sling TV when it comes to channel lineups, the number of streams allowed, cloud DVR capabilities, device support, and other important features.

Recent news from Peacock reveals that they’ve raised the price of their Premium plan to $10.99 a month, the largest increase since the service started. If this new cost doesn’t sit well with you, Peacock has introduced a more affordable tier called Select.

Even though you can’t sign up for the Select plan when creating a new account, existing Peacock users can now access this cheaper option. You don’t have to be a paid subscriber to switch to the Select tier, you just need to have an existing Peacock account.

To switch to the Select plan, simply go to the Plans & Payment section in your Account tab after logging in. The Select tier costs $7.99 per month, or $79.99 for a whole year, which was the same price as the Premium plan before the recent increase.

It’s worth noting that the Select tier offers a more limited experience compared to the Premium plan. While Select users can watch TV favorites from NBC, Bravo, and others, they don’t have access to the movie library or live sports. Interestingly, Select subscribers also won’t be able to watch Peacock Originals.

Considering the $3 difference in price between the Select and Premium tiers, the latter may offer more bang for your buck. Perhaps the Select tier is meant to guide users towards the Premium plan by providing a taste of what Peacock has to offer at a lower cost.

Keep in mind that the Select tier is still in a testing phase, so its offerings and price could change at any time. It’s also possible that the tier could be removed without warning, so stay tuned for any updates.

If you’re looking to make changes to your streaming services, Spectrum now makes it easier to add new services and upgrade to ad-free plans. Additionally, Disney+ is launching two new 24/7 always-on streams in August. And with ad-supported content making up 73.6% of total viewing in Q2 2025, it’s clear that this model is still popular among viewers.
