Netflix’s Pride and Prejudice First Look: A Joyful Preview

It’s always a reason to celebrate when a new version of an iconic story comes to life, and that’s exactly what fans can look forward to with the upcoming Netflix miniseries based on Jane Austen’s beloved novel, Pride and Prejudice. Production is officially underway, and we’ve been treated to a first look at what’s to come.

In the newly released images from the series, we see Emma Corrin and Olivia Colman stepping into the roles of Elizabeth Bennet and Mrs. Bennet, strolling among the greenery in their elegant Regency attire. Joining them are the rest of the Bennet sisters: Freya Mavor as Jane, Hopey Parish as Mary, Rhea Norwood as Lydia, and Hollie Avery as Kitty. While Jack Lowden, set to play Mr. Darcy, was notably absent from this sneak peek.

The star-studded cast also includes Rufus Sewell as Mr. Bennet, Louis Partridge as Mr. Wickham, Fiona Shaw as Lady Catherine de Bourg, Daryl McCormack as Mr. Bingley, and Jamie Demetriou as Mr. Collins. Not only is Emma Corrin taking on the lead role of Elizabeth, but she’s also serving as an executive producer on the series, which will be brought to life by director Eros Lyn and writer Dolly Alderton.

In a statement to Netflix, Emma shared her excitement, calling the role of Elizabeth Bennet a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. She expressed her joy at bringing this iconic character to life and couldn’t wait for a new generation to fall in love with the story all over again. Dolly Alderton, too, expressed her gratitude for being a part of this adaptation, noting the joy of delving back into the pages of Jane Austen’s timeless work.

While we don’t have a premiere date for the series just yet, we do know that it will consist of six episodes, sticking faithfully to the source material. As we all eagerly await this latest take on Pride and Prejudice, there are plenty of other book adaptations to dive into for your streaming entertainment fix.
