Star Trek: Year One Potential Spinoff with Wesley for Early Kirk Series
Fans of Star Trek, get ready to start campaigning! The EPs of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers, are hoping for a new series that explores the early days of Captain Kirk. They’re urging fans to write to Paramount to make it happen. Paul Wesley, who plays Kirk in the Paramount+ series, could bridge the gap between Pike’s crew and the iconic TOS team in this new spinoff.
In an interview at San Diego Comic Con, Goldsman and Myers shared their dream plan for a Kirk-led series. They want to see how Pike’s crew transitions to Kirk’s crew and explore the relationships that already exist in TOS. While some classic crew members like Bones, Sulu, and Chekov have yet to appear in Strange New Worlds, the EPs promise that they have plans for them. The show will end with season five, but there’s still more Star Trek on the horizon. We got a sneak peek at the new live-action series Starfleet Academy at SDCC.
As for other Star Trek news, Prodigy remains in limbo, and a planned sequel series to Picard called Star Trek: Legacy never materialized. But there’s still plenty of Star Trek to enjoy, with new episodes of Strange New Worlds streaming on Paramount+ every Thursday. Start writing those letters to Paramount and let’s make the Year One series a reality!
