SDCC 2025: Three Activations Unveiled

San Diego Comic-Con is known for more than just the convention center itself. In recent years, “activations” have become a popular part of the experience, offering pop-up promotional events that give attendees a chance to engage with their favorite shows and movies in new and exciting ways. This year, The Beat visited three standout activations from Paramount+, Twisted Metal, and Thunderbolts*, each offering a unique and immersive experience for fans.

Paramount+ welcomed visitors to The Lodge, a space that showcased some of the streamer’s hottest properties. For Star Trek fans, there was a Starfleet Academy segment that featured themed mocktails and photo opportunities on a retro bridge from the upcoming series “Strange New Worlds.” Additionally, fans of “Dexter: Resurrection” could explore a chilling hallway filled with reproductions of famous serial killers’ artifacts. Complimentary drink coupons, margaritas, and sliders added to the fun atmosphere, making it a must-visit destination for convention-goers.

A few blocks away, the Twisted Metal Bumper Battle activation offered a street fair vibe with bumper cars themed after the series. Players could enjoy bumping into each other while soaking in the nostalgia of the franchise. Karaoke, a photo op, and a fun photo manipulation experience rounded out the activation, providing a memorable addition to the convention experience.

At the Thunderbolts* Treatz Truck, located behind the Omni Hotel, fans could step inside a Wheaties-style box for a photo opportunity before indulging in character-themed soft serve ice cream cups. Flavors like Ghost’s Vanishing Vanilla and Black Widow’s Killer Charm Sundae delighted visitors, making the truck a sweet stop in between convention activities.

These activations were just a taste of the immersive experiences available to San Diego Comic-Con attendees. Whether you’re a die-hard fan or just looking for a fun way to spend your time at the convention, these pop-up events offer a unique way to engage with your favorite shows and movies.
