Vince Gilligan’s Upcoming Sci-Fi Show on Apple TV+ is Arriving Soon

Apple TV+ made a big reveal during San Diego Comic-Con weekend by announcing its upcoming sci-fi drama series called Pluribus. The show is created by Vince Gilligan, the mastermind behind Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. While this might be Gilligan’s first foray into science fiction, there will be a familiar face in the cast – Rhea Seehorn from Better Call Saul.

Apple TV’s announcement for Pluribus didn’t give away much about the plot, other than confirming that Vince Gilligan is behind it and that it will consist of nine episodes. The teaser trailer for the show, however, gives off a vibe reminiscent of cringe-worthy YouTube pranks from the past.

According to Apple’s description, Pluribus is set in a world where the “most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness” – maybe starting with licked donuts. Alongside Seehorn, the show features actors like Karolina Wydra, Carlos-Manuel Vesga, Miriam Shor, and Samba Schutte. Interestingly, even before the series premiered, Apple TV renewed it for a second season, consisting of nine episodes.

Gilligan hinted at working on Pluribus back in 2023, mentioning that the show was in production and nearing the end of its first season. While he described it as “mild science fiction with a sci-fi element,” he assured fans that there wouldn’t be any crime or methamphetamine involved. Fans can look forward to a unique story set in Albuquerque, but in an entirely different world.

The first two episodes of Pluribus are set to premiere on November 7, with subsequent episodes airing every Friday through December 26 exclusively on Apple TV. Vince Gilligan’s track record with shows like The X-Files gives fans hope that Pluribus will bring something special to the sci-fi genre.
