Staff members like David Nielsen, the general manager with 21 years of service, are deeply saddened by the loss of 37 out of 40 peacocks over recent days. The hotel employees, accustomed to the presence of these beautiful birds, are grappling with the sudden absence.

There are concerns that the peacocks might be victims of illegal activities like cockfighting. Sgt. Amar Gandhi from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office assured the public that this is being taken seriously as a property crime with potential felony charges.
