Peacocks Disappear from Ryde Hotel: Mysterious Disappearance in Historic Location
actively encouraged to contact the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office if they have any leads.
It’s a sad day at the historic Ryde Hotel in Walnut Grove, California. The peacocks that have roamed the grounds for generations have mysteriously disappeared. Rafe Goorwitch, the hotel’s catering coordinator, shared that these exotic birds were a familiar sight, strutting through the lobby and perching in trees. One peacock, lovingly named “Alibaba,” was known for his confident demeanor as he wandered around.
Staff members like David Nielsen, the general manager with 21 years of service, are deeply saddened by the loss of 37 out of 40 peacocks over recent days. The hotel employees, accustomed to the presence of these beautiful birds, are grappling with the sudden absence.
There are concerns that the peacocks might be victims of illegal activities like cockfighting. Sgt. Amar Gandhi from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office assured the public that this is being taken seriously as a property crime with potential felony charges. The disappearance of the peacocks has stirred up emotions among the staff, who miss their feathered companions greatly.
In response to these troubling events, the hotel has beefed up its security measures by installing new surveillance cameras. With a plea from Goorwitch to return the peacocks, the community is urged to come forward with any information that might help solve this mystery.
For now, the hotel staff is left with a sense of loss in what was once known as the heart of the Delta. But with ongoing efforts by law enforcement and the community, there’s hope that Alibaba and the other missing peacocks will soon return to their home at the Ryde Hotel. Let’s keep an eye out and bring these beloved birds back where they belong.
