North Carolina Tar Heels Football in Talks with Hulu for Docuseries
The North Carolina Tar Heels had talks with HBO Max for a college version of Hard Knocks, but it seems like that deal didn’t pan out. However, there’s some exciting news on the horizon. According to a report by Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports, discussions are underway with Hulu for a docuseries featuring the Tar Heels and their new head coach, Bill Belichick.
As of now, the deal isn’t set in stone, but talks with Disney’s Hulu streaming service are ongoing. It seems that negotiations with HBO fell apart due to disagreements over creative control, content approval, and ownership of the series. But a potential partnership with Hulu makes sense, especially since most Tar Heels games will air on Disney-owned platforms like ESPN or the ACC Network this season.
If the series comes to fruition, EverWonder Studio is set to produce it. They’ve previously worked on projects like the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson boxing event on Netflix and NFL Christmas Day Games. Belichick, known for his six Super Bowl titles as head coach of the New England Patriots, took over the Tar Heels program after former coach Mack Brown’s departure.
Belichick has been making headlines since he was introduced as the new head coach in December 2024. With various press conferences under his belt, he’s gearing up to appear with four of his players at ACC Media Days in Charlotte on July 24 to kick off the season. The Tar Heels’ first game with Belichick at the helm will be on Sept. 1 against Texas Christian University, airing on ESPN.
