USA Women’s Eagles Squad Prepared to Shine at Women’s Rugby World Cup

In the heart of the nation’s capital, amidst a backdrop of rich history, the USA Women’s Eagles are gearing up to script the next chapter. Recently, USA Rugby proudly unveiled the official Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 squad as a standout highlight of the festivities marking USA Rugby’s 50th Anniversary in Washington D.C. The event was streamed live for fans nationwide and is now available for replay on the official USA Rugby YouTube channel.

This announcement represents a monumental moment for women’s rugby in the United States, as the Eagles gear up to showcase their skills on the grandest stage in women’s rugby history. With an impressive 330,000 tickets already snatched up (more than double the previous Women’s Rugby World Cup total), the excitement is palpable. Plus, with the USA Women’s matches being live-streamed on CBS and Paramount+, the squad is primed to ignite a spark in future generations of rugby players eagerly waiting for their shot.

Taking the reins as the Squad’s captain for the second time at her third Rugby World Cup, Kate Zackary shared, “This Rugby World Cup is bigger than just us — it’s about demonstrating the possibilities to the next generation. We want kids all across the U.S. to witness this team and think, ‘That could be me.’ Rugby in America is on the rise, and we’re determined to kick down that door completely wide open.”

“This squad is fired up and prepared to rewrite our narrative. We have the chance to play the game we adore at the highest echelon — and we don’t take that privilege lightly. Our drive is unwavering and our pursuit relentless. Together, we’re here to lift each other up and exceed every boundary.”

These athletes will not only represent the red, white, and blue, but also stand as proof of the burgeoning rugby talent emerging from an intensely competitive selection pool. Building on their 7th place finish in the Rugby World Cup 2021 quarterfinals, the team is set on showcasing their prowess.

The squad introduction was conducted by the esteemed USA Eagle Jamie Burke, who recently held the record for the most-capped Women’s Eagle. That record was recently surpassed by the current squad member Hope Rogers, who now boasts an impressive 54 caps as she gears up to represent the USA in her fourth Rugby World Cup.

Head Coach Sione Fukofuka remarked, “Our squad comprises resilient, powerful women with tales of dedication and sacrifice to the sport of rugby. We’re thrilled to translate these individual stories into collective triumph. We celebrate Hope Rogers in her fourth Rugby World Cup, as she joins a select group of players who have participated in four tournaments. Her dedication and work ethic to excel as the best Loosehead prop in the world is evident in her 12-year journey with the Eagles.”

“This USA Women’s Eagles squad is a blend of seasoned players with multiple Rugby World Cup experiences and fresh talent gearing up for their inaugural World Cup appearance. We prioritize our work ethic, physicality, and all-around competitive capabilities, and we firmly believe in our potential as a team.”

“As a collective, we are eager for the opportunity to showcase our strengths and compete at the highest level. The stage is set, and we are prepared to make our mark.”
