I don’t know about you, but it is hot outside where I’m sitting, which means I’m going to need every bingable excuse to sit in the air conditioning I can possibly pull together. **What’s streaming on Netflix in August 2025**
Mystery abounds in the shadowy halls of Netflix as the gothic teen puzzler Wednesday returns for the first half of season 2. But the morose Miss Addams won’t be the only character unlocking secrets this August. Director Chris Columbus is adapting Richard Osman’s curious crime comedy novel *The Thursday Murder Club*, and A-listers Helen Mirren, David Tennant, Ben Kingsley, and more are set to star. Oh, and lest you forget – Barbie herself will be dusting off the ol’ magnifying glass when season 2 of the *Barbie Mysteries* airs at the end of the month.
What’s streaming on Amazon Prime Video in August 2025
Probably the biggest (or at least, most explosive) item headed to Prime Video this coming month is *The Terminal List: Dark Wolf*, a prequel series to the Chris Pratt-starring *Terminal List*. What’s streaming on HBO Max in August 2025
Thus far, we’ve only been able to confirm one series that’s headed to HBO Max, but the one series we did confirm is plenty of reason to celebrate. James Gunn’s *Peacemaker* returns for a second season on the streaming platform, to continue the story begun in the John Cena-starring first season. What’s streaming on Hulu in August 2025
Now we’ve come to what I’m most excited for – the small screen debut of the Alien franchise. Showrunner Noah Hawley leads us into a bleak and terrifying future with *Alien: Earth*, a series taking place shortly before the events of the classic 1979 original film. Oh, but that’s not all Hulu’s bringing to the table this August! Along with bringing a beloved monster from cinemas to streaming, Hulu is resurrecting one of the most beloved animated families in all of television history, bringing a long-awaited *King of the Hill* season 14 to screens August 4.
What’s streaming on Disney+ in August 2025
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is officially in Phase Six after the end of *Ironheart*, and the first TV project to bear the label will be *Eyes of Wakanda*, the Ryan Coogler-developed animated series that takes viewers back through the history of the titular, fictional nation at the center of the Black Panther films. However, showrunner Todd Harris confirmed that Black Panther won’t be the only legacy Marvel character to appear in the show – somewhere along the way, an Iron Fist is going to show up as well.
What’s coming to Apple TV+ in August 2025
And speaking of noble warriors from different time periods, let’s end by talking about *Chief of War*, probably the biggest thing coming to Apple TV+ as we approach the end of July. *Chief of War* tells the true tale of Kaʻiana, a princely ruler and fighter who rebelled against the 19th-century unification of Hawaii. And by the way, the music for the series will be composed by none other than Dark Knight legend Hans Zimmer.
