New Person of Interest Revealed in 1995 Iowa News Anchor Vanishing: Documentary
A new person of interest has emerged in the perplexing case of missing Iowa news anchor Jodi Huisentruit, who disappeared over 30 years ago. Brad Millerbernd, the ex-husband of Huisentruit’s childhood best friend Patty Niemeyer, has come under scrutiny by Iowa police following tips that linked him to the suspected abduction in 1995.
The investigation revealed that Millerbernd lived about three hours away from Huisentruit’s Mason City apartment at the time she vanished. His ex-wife, Niemeyer, mentioned in a documentary titled “Her Last Broadcast: The Abduction of Jodi Huisentruit,” that Millerbernd closely resembled police suspect sketches never seen before.
Despite the accusations, Millerbernd has denied any involvement in the incident and has cooperated with investigators as mentioned in the documentary. Huisentruit, a news anchor, went missing in June 1995 as she was preparing to head to work, and she has never been found.
When Huisentruit disappeared, she called work to say she was running late but never arrived. The investigative documentary highlighted that signs of a struggle were discovered at her apartment complex, including bent car keys, a blow dryer, a high-heeled shoe, and hair spray left abandoned in the parking lot.
Despite extensive searches and the discovery of a palm print on a light pole, no substantial evidence has been recovered, and no suspects have been named. Millerbernd’s connection to the case came to light due to the couple’s divorce shortly before Huisentruit’s disappearance.
Niemeyer reported her suspicions to the police in 2017, leading to Millerbernd being questioned by authorities. Information surfaced that he had met with Huisentruit the fall before she vanished and had contacted her weeks prior to the abduction. Niemeyer also revealed that Millerbernd drove a white van similar to one spotted near the scene of the disappearance.
Although Millerbernd has not been named as a suspect, he underwent questioning and provided DNA samples while agreeing to a polygraph test. Another individual of interest in the case was John Vansice, a friend of Huisentruit, who was with her at her apartment the night before she went missing. Vansice also denied any involvement in her disappearance.
The documentary, “Her Last Broadcast: The Abduction of Jodi Huisentruit,” is set to premiere on Hulu, shedding light on the mysterious vanishing of Jodi Huisentruit.
