Paramount+ Removes 26-Season Adult Cartoon from Platform – Latest Update
“South Park,” the beloved adult animated comedy series, has been removed from Paramount+ as the streaming platform’s license to show it has expired. While all 26 seasons of the show are no longer available, fans can still enjoy nine special episodes, including ‘South Park: The End of Obesity’ and ‘South Park: The 25th Anniversary Concert.’
Surprisingly, only Paramount+ subscribers outside the U.S. are affected by this change, as negotiations for a new streaming deal are still ongoing in the U.S. The series continues to be available on HBO Max domestically. The delay in negotiations is tied to tension surrounding the show’s streaming rights, as it is caught in the middle of the pending acquisition of Comedy Central’s parent company by Skydance.
Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have publicly voiced their concerns over potential interference in the rights negotiations by the new owners. Due to the uncertainty, the premiere of Season 27 on Comedy Central was postponed from July 9 to July 23. The plan was for “South Park” to move to Paramount+ once its streaming deal with HBO Max expired in June 2025, but for now, only the special episodes are accessible on the platform.
While Paramount+ has not issued a public statement regarding the removal of “South Park,” a representative did confirm via email that the show had reached the end of its streaming rights window on the platform. Fans can still catch the series on Comedy Central, as well as on streaming services like Philo, FuboTV, DirecTV Stream (except Sling). HBO Max and Netflix are reportedly in discussions for the streaming rights, which are believed to be non-exclusive.
We hope to see a resolution in the next 10 days so that fans can enjoy “South Park” on a streaming service in time for the Season 27 premiere on July 23. And if you’re looking to catch up on other shows, remember that platforms like Philo, FuboTV, and DirecTV Stream offer free trials for new users. Stay tuned for more entertainment news and updates!
