Ironheart: Why She Didn’t Get Her Pink Suit in the MCU
Ironheart producer Zoie Nagelhout recently shared some insights into why Dominique Thorne’s character didn’t sport her iconic pink suit in the Marvel miniseries. The show made its debut on Disney+ on June 24, 2025.
Alongside Thorne, Ironheart stars Anthony Ramos, Lyric Ross, Alden Ehrenreich, Regan Aliyah, and more. Fans were also treated to a special appearance by Sacha Baron Cohen as the highly anticipated Marvel villain, Mephisto.
When asked about the decision to forego Williams’ pink suit, Nagelhout explained that they opted for a gunmetal gray, Transformers-esque style suit inspired by the earlier comics. This suit, reminiscent of one Williams built in her MIT dorm room, resonated with the production team.
Nagelhout hinted that the pink suit might make an appearance in the future, comparing its potential growth to Tony Stark’s evolution to nanotech. However, for Williams’ solo series, they wanted to establish her origins with a suit pieced together from unique parts, like those found in a junkyard or car.
In the show, Williams creates a new suit in her stepfather’s garage to face off against Ramos’ character, Hood. This black and red suit, infused with magic, marked a pivotal moment in her superhero journey.
Ironheart was released in two parts, with the first three episodes premiering in June and the final three dropping on July 1, 2025. Stay tuned for more exciting developments in the Marvel universe!
