Shane van Gisbergen wins Sonoma Busch Light Pole Award

Shane van Gisbergen is on fire in NASCAR’s road course races! He’s done it again by securing the Busch Light Pole Award for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series event at Sonoma Raceway.

Van Gisbergen posted an impressive lap of 95.733 mph, beating out Chase Briscoe for his third pole position of the 2025 season. The race is set for 3:30 p.m. ET and you can catch all the action on TNT Sports/truTV, HBO Max, PRN Radio, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Following van Gisbergen and Briscoe, William Byron, Ross Chastain, and AJ Allmendinger will start in the top five. The top 10 starters will also include Ty Gibbs, Ryan Blaney, Tyler Reddick, Alex Bowman, and Christopher Bell.

During practice on Saturday, Allmendinger showed his speed by leading the way with a lap of 94.325 mph. Other top performers in practice included Gibbs, van Gisbergen, Chastain, and Kyle Larson. It’s shaping up to be an exciting race!

Qualifying for the event was split into two groups, with each group having 20 minutes to set their times. The results from both sessions were combined to determine the starting lineup for the race.
