South Park Removed from Paramount+ Worldwide

South Park fans outside the US have been left without their favorite show on Paramount+ after the international streaming rights expired. The series has been removed from the platform due to the end of its licensed “window” for distribution outside the United States.

While all seasons of South Park are affected by this change, special events and original movies like Post-COVID and The Streaming Wars, which were created for Paramount+, are still available in most regions thanks to separate licensing agreements.

The removal of South Park coincides with delays to the show’s upcoming 27th season, now set to premiere on July 23 on Comedy Central. Negotiations are underway between the show’s creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, and Paramount executives to navigate the complexities of the series’ streaming future.

Recent leadership changes and merger developments involving Skydance have added to the challenges faced during these discussions. Despite the hurdles, Parker and Stone have completed episodes for the upcoming season and remain actively involved in content production.

In the US, South Park can still be streamed on HBO Max under a separate arrangement that has been extended for the time being. However, international viewers will have to turn to Comedy Central broadcasts or other regional platforms for access until a new agreement is established.

Paramount+ has expressed interest in restoring the full South Park library internationally once new licensing terms are agreed upon, but no specific timeline for the return has been provided. Until then, fans will have to find alternative ways to watch their favorite animated series.
