Amazon Prime Video Doubles Ad Time, Viewers Take Notice

Amazon Prime Video has been making changes to its commercial breaks, according to a recent report from Adweek. They first introduced ads about a year ago, and now they’ve increased the number of ads viewers see during movies and shows. The commercial load has gone from 2-3 minutes per hour to 5-6 minutes for many movies and shows.

One Prime Video subscriber, Guinevere Highgate, from Milwaukee, shared her frustration after noticing more ads during a movie she rented recently. She said, “It’s annoying to see them when I didn’t sign up to see them, I suppose. Like we pay a premium to not see them.” The additional ads have changed the viewing experience, making it more like traditional network television, even though it’s part of a paid subscription service.

But there’s good news for viewers who want an ad-free experience – Amazon offers an ad-free upgrade option for an extra $3 per month on top of the regular Prime subscription fee. This gives viewers a way to enjoy content without interruptions.

This shift in advertising on Prime Video has caught the attention of many viewers, prompting discussions about the streaming experience. If you’re a Prime Video user, how do you feel about these changes? Let us know your thoughts!
