HBO Max orders unexpected Big Bang Theory spinoff
While fans have been eagerly awaiting news about the potential Big Bang Theory spinoff, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, HBO Max has finally given it the green light, according to TVLine. The Chuck Lorre production has been in talks for over two years, with updates on the main cast, script readings, and episode count slowly trickling out. Although a filming start date, release date, and total episode count have yet to be revealed, Lorre had previously mentioned that they have penned down 10 episode scripts. It wasn’t until now, however, that the spinoff became a reality. The show’s synopsis has been unveiled, and it’s definitely not what fans were expecting.
In Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, comic book store owner Stuart Bloom, portrayed by Kevin Sussman, finds himself in a sticky situation after accidentally triggering a multiverse Armageddon by messing with a device created by Sheldon and Leonard. He embarks on a quest to fix reality, accompanied by his girlfriend Denise, geologist friend Bert, and a quantum physicist named Barry Kripke. Throughout their journey, they encounter alternate-universe versions of familiar characters, leading to some unforeseen consequences.
This sci-fi mythological story injected into a single-camera comedy format promises to be a unique twist on the Big Bang Theory universe. While CGI will likely be heavily utilized, the unexpected plotline has certainly captured the curiosity of fans. Could we possibly see cameos from actors like Jim Parsons and Johnny Galecki reprising their roles? With Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, and Mayim Bialik expressing interest in returning in some capacity, along with Melissa Rauch potentially being more available after the cancellation of her NBC series Night Court, the door seems open for some exciting guest appearances.
As Stuart Fails to Save the Universe joins the ranks of prequels Young Sheldon and Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage, expanding the TBBT world, fans can expect a fresh and innovative take on the beloved series. Stay tuned to GeekSided for further updates on this highly-anticipated spinoff series.
