Netflix Cancels ‘Pulse’ and Shondaland’s ‘The Residence’ After One Season
Netflix has decided to end two of its original series, “Pulse” and “The Residence,” after just one season each. “Pulse” was Netflix’s first dive into the medical drama genre, similar to popular shows like “ER” and “Grey’s Anatomy.” Even though “Pulse” didn’t hit the same heights, HBO had better luck with their medical hit, “The Pitt.”
“The Residence,” a White House murder mystery featuring Uzo Aduba, was inspired by a book by Kate Andersen Brower. It joined other successful Shondaland series on Netflix like “Bridgerton” and “Inventing Anna.” On the other hand, “No Good Deed,” starring Ray Romano and Lisa Kudrow, is still up in the air for renewal, with talks about potentially introducing new characters for a second season in the future.
Despite these cancellations, Netflix has been thriving with its scripted content lately. A range of series, from “Ransom Canyon” to “The Vince Staples Show,” have earned second and even third seasons, with more popular shows like “Bridgerton” and “Sweet Magnolias” also getting renewed. It’s clear that while “Pulse” and “The Residence” may not have seen continued success, Netflix’s diverse lineup continues to deliver.
