Apple TV+ announces “I’m Glad My Mom Died” dramedy series
McCurdy’s memoir, “I’m Glad My Mom Died,” for a 10-part series. The book delves into McCurdy’s experiences as a child actress on iCarly, highlighting the challenges she faced with self-doubt, eating disorders, addiction, and toxic relationships, all while her mother basked in the limelight of her daughter’s success.
After her mother’s passing from cancer and McCurdy finding solace in therapy, the memoir follows her journey to recovery and taking control of her life. The Apple TV+ series will focus on the relationship between an 18-year-old actress on a popular kids’ show and her narcissistic mother, played by Jennifer Aniston.
Written, executive produced, and showrun by McCurdy and Ari Katcher, the project involves Apple Studios, Merman, and Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment. Aniston, through Echo Films, will also serve as an executive producer alongside other industry heavyweights like Sharon Horgan, Margot Robbie, and more.
