Audacy closes Pineapple Street: A RAMP update
is closing Pineapple Street Studios, where they created original audio shows and companion podcasts for popular TV shows like House of the Dragon, Severance, and The Last of Us. This unfortunate decision has led to around 30 employees leaving the company. In a statement, a spokesperson from Audacy expressed that this move allows them to focus on their core strengths and areas where their podcasting business can grow the most. They expressed gratitude for the contributions of their talented colleagues.
Back in August 2019, Audacy, then known as Entercom, acquired Pineapple Street Media along with Cadence13, a podcast creator and distributor, for approximately $18 million. Pineapple Street Media rebranded to Pineapple Street Studios, with its co-founders Jenna Weiss-Berman and Max Linsky leading the new division. Audacy intends to keep producing podcasts in collaboration with other media companies.
Pineapple Street Studios produced podcasts for TV networks like HBO and HBO Max, such as And Just Like That…, Chernobyl, Dune: Prophecy, Hacks, House of the Dragon, and The Last of Us. Additionally, they created companion podcasts for Apple TV+ series like Foundation and Severance. Interestingly, Audacy Podcasts, in partnership with Red Hour and Great Scott, is now producing The Severance Podcast with Ben Stiller & Adam Scott. Fans can look forward to five new episodes every Thursday, available on all podcast platforms, with more episodes planned for fall 2025.
