UConn women’s basketball to be featured in new Apple TV+ docuseries
A new Apple TV+ docuseries will shine a spotlight on the UConn women’s basketball program and their 2025 national championship team. This three-part series will cover 40 years of the program’s dynasty led by Hall of Fame coach Geno Auriemma. The series is directed by Emmy Award winner Matthew Hamachek and Emmy Award nominee Erica Sashin, known for their work on sports documentaries.
Beginning with Geno Auriemma’s hiring in 1985, when the program had just one winning season, the docuseries will take fans through each era, highlighting star players like Rebecca Lobo, Swin Cash, Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, Breanna Stewart, and Paige Bueckers.
According to Apple TV+, the series will feature a mix of archival footage, in-depth interviews, and behind-the-scenes access with the 2024-25 championship team. This exclusive look into 40 seasons of UConn women’s basketball promises to showcase the hard work that has built the program.
The docuseries, produced by Skydance Sports, with executive producers from Learfield Studios and Brillstein Creative Partners, will add to Apple’s lineup of non-fiction sports programming. Other notable series include “Fight for Glory: 2024 World Series,” “Onside: Major League Soccer,” “Messi’s World Cup: The Rise of a Legend,” and “Stephen Curry: Underrated.”
