Liam Payne appears joyful in last TV appearance 8 months post tragedy
Liam Payne made his final TV appearance on Netflix’s “Building the Band” before his tragic death in Argentina. The trailer for the show dropped recently, showcasing Payne as a guest judge offering advice to contestants on forming a band within a singing competition. This is a topic close to his heart, as he was a part of the formation of One Direction on “The X Factor” back in 2010.
In the trailer, Payne appears lively and cheerful alongside fellow judge Kelly Rowland and mentor Nicole Scherzinger. He doesn’t hold back in giving honest feedback to the competitors, emphasizing the importance of vocal skills and chemistry within a band. Drawing from his own experience with One Direction, he mentions how unique it is to have bands put together in a competition setting.
“Building the Band,” hosted by AJ McLean from the Backstreet Boys, is about 50 singers forming 6 bands without seeing each other, competing to become the next big music group. The singers are responsible for creating their own bands, with the twist of being in sound booths where they can hear others sing but not see them. The show premieres on Netflix on July 9.
Payne’s journey with One Direction, formed by judges Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger, and Louis Walsh, led to global success for the group and the launch of their solo careers. Unfortunately, Payne passed away in October 2024 at the age of 31 after a tragic incident in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He did not leave a will, and his $32.2 million estate was placed in a trust for his 8-year-old son, Bear, whom he shared with Cheryl Cole.
Despite the heartbreaking loss, Payne’s impact on the music industry and his positive spirit in his final TV appearance will always be remembered.
