Laurel Diner’s Burger Inspired by Netflix Show “You”
The Laurel Diner in Long Beach is serving up a burger inspired by the Netflix show “You,” featuring a quirky advertisement of a beefy cheeseburger inside a glass cage. The show, known for its lover-boy serial killer character, has taken inspiration from this charming diner for two episodes in its final season.
Owned by Andrew and Peter Loucas, along with their retired father Chris, the Laurel Diner is a grandiose throwback that has become a friendly place to film after its remodel in 2014. When “You’s” production team reached out in 2024, they couldn’t resist the opportunity to showcase this historical spot.
Although the scenes filmed at the diner were minor, the interior left a lasting impression. Even though the show falsely places the diner in Atlantic Beach, the dynamic between Joe Goldberg and his muse Bronte outside the diner, and at the front counter and booth, remains captivating for viewers. Andrew Loucas humorously wished for a murder scene at the diner, reminiscent of a “Sopranos” ending, but was grateful for Netflix’s choice to feature the diner.
To commemorate the show’s legacy, the Laurel Diner created the Goldburg burger, named after the main character. This distinctive burger with a Pat LaFrieda patty, smoky Gouda cheese, truffle hot honey sauce, crispy onion strings, romaine lettuce, and a dark pumpernickel seed bun perfectly captures the twisted nature of Joe. While the show might not have ended as expected, this delicious creation offers an easy and uncomplicated love for fans. So, if you find yourself in Long Beach, don’t miss the chance to try this unique burger at Laurel Diner.
