Paramount+ Showtime rebrands as Paramount+ Premium
Paramount+ With Showtime has undergone a rebranding and is now known as Paramount+ Premium. This change applies to the streaming package, while the name of the linear cable channel remains the same.
Originally, Paramount+ With Showtime was an upgrade to Paramount+, but in 2023 Showtime became fully integrated with Paramount+ as its premium subscription. This move marked the closure of Showtime’s standalone streaming app in January 2024.
The linear Showtime cable channel also adopted the new name at that time. However, Showtime continues to be a significant branding name for original programming.
In a statement released on Monday, Paramount explained that the Premium plan name was chosen to reflect the broad and diverse offerings across both plan tiers. Despite the rebranding, all the benefits and content that were available in Paramount+ With Showtime are still included in Paramount+ Premium.
The streaming service will continue to offer ad-free streaming, a library of over 40,000 full episodes and hit movies on demand, exclusive subscriber-only originals, as well as live streams of CBS News, CBS Sports HQ, Mixible, and other curated channels. Users will also have access to their local CBS station, up to 6 individual profiles, streaming on up to 3 devices concurrently, and all of Showtime’s programming.
Paramount+ Premium is priced at $12.99 per month or $119 per year. The subscription also includes select programming in 4K UHD, Dolby Vision, or HDR10, as well as downloadable movies and shows.
This name change follows a trend in the streaming industry, with another major service reverting to an older name earlier this year. Warner Bros. Discovery announced that HBO Max is returning to its original name after two years as Max.
