J.K. Rowling recently shared her excitement and approval for the upcoming Harry Potter series on HBO. The controversial author is also serving as an executive producer for the show, although she isn’t expected to be involved in the day-to-day aspects. Despite facing criticism for her past remarks, the content chief at HBO and Max, Casey Bloys, has expressed confidence that any negative impact on the show will be minimal, stating that he is not worried about the consumer response.
The Harry Potter series is scheduled to start filming in mid-summer 2025 and has already announced a significant portion of its cast, aiming to usher in a new generation of fandom. The lead roles include Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.
