Australian Man Uses VPN to Remove Freeloader from Netflix Account
Freeloading on someone else’s Netflix account might be more common than you think. Take the story of this guy from Australia, for example. He kept using a version of someone else’s email address to sign up for services, including Netflix. It was getting out of hand, so what did the email owner do? They took matters into their own hands and decided enough was enough.
After discovering that their email was being used without permission, they VPN’ed to Australia, logged into the Netflix account, changed the password, closed the account, and disconnected the device that was being used. Hopefully, by making it a bit more difficult for this person, they will get the memo.
It’s unclear whether it was an innocent mistake due to similar names or intentional freeloading. The email owner shared their story and vented their frustration on Reddit, sparking a conversation about the lack of two-factor authentication in 2025 and the need for better account security measures.
