Changes Under Full Disney Ownership at Hulu
Disney has officially taken full control of Hulu after a lengthy back and forth with Comcast’s NBCUniversal. The House of Mouse paid $439 million to acquire the remaining shares of Hulu, a much smaller amount than the nearly $9 billion Disney was initially willing to pay for Comcast’s 33% stake. This decision has saved Disney several billion dollars, but there are still concerns about the actual value of Hulu. Disney and Comcast have disagreed on the valuation of Hulu for years, with Disney valuing it at $27.5 billion and Comcast having a higher estimate. With Disney now in full control, it will be interesting to see how this change impacts the future of the streaming service.
