Tyler Perry Faces $260 Million Sexual Assault and Harassment Lawsuit

Tyler Perry is facing a serious legal challenge this week with a $260 million lawsuit filed by “The Oval” actor and screenwriter Derek Dixon. According to the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles, Dixon claims that Perry used his influential position to exploit him sexually, promising career opportunities in exchange for his unwelcome advances. The lawsuit further alleges that Perry retaliated against Dixon when these advances were not returned.

In response to the lawsuit, Perry’s attorney, Matthew Boyd, released a statement asserting that these claims are fabricated and that Perry will not be coerced into settling. Boyd described Dixon’s actions as an attempt to scam Perry and expressed confidence that the harassment allegations would not hold up in court.

Dixon’s lawsuit details how he met Perry at Tyler Perry Studios in September 2019 and was later cast in Perry’s show “Ruthless” and “The Oval.” The actor claims that Perry subjected him to unwelcome sexual advances, threats, and harassment during their working relationship. Dixon states that he experienced physical and emotional harm as a result of Perry’s actions, including depression, anxiety, and PTSD.

The lawsuit also claims that when Dixon raised concerns about the harassment with TPS Production Services in June 2024, no action was taken to address the situation. Dixon eventually decided to take a medical leave of absence from “The Oval” due to emotional distress, but Perry retaliated by terminating his contract.

Overall, Dixon’s lawsuit seeks a jury trial and damages totaling $260 million, including punitive damages. He is represented by attorney Jonathan J. Delshad. The lawsuit includes allegations of sexual harassment, assault, battery, and various other legal claims related to the alleged misconduct.
