Boston University Soccer Players Support Coach Alex Cooper Amid Allegations
Boston University’s Women’s Soccer team alumni have come together to support their former coach, Nancy Feldman, following recent accusations of sexual harassment made by Alex Cooper in her Hulu documentary series, ‘Call Her Alex.’ A letter signed by 99 former players, obtained by TMZ Sports, expressed solidarity with Feldman and shared their positive experiences under her leadership.
The letter clarified that while they respected Cooper’s individual experience, their own shared perspective as a group highlighted a safe and professional environment created by Coach Feldman during their time on the team. They emphasized that they never felt unsafe or witnessed any inappropriate behavior or harassment under Feldman’s coaching.
The alumni, representing several decades of players, praised Feldman’s professionalism and commitment to the team’s success, stating that her influence extended beyond their college years. The letter highlighted their ongoing support for Feldman as an important part of their lives.
Boston University responded to Cooper’s allegations with a statement affirming their zero-tolerance policy for sexual harassment and their commitment to supporting student wellbeing. The university encouraged community members to report concerns and reiterated their dedication to providing a safe campus environment for all.
In addition to her documentary series, Cooper took to Instagram to further detail her negative experiences with Feldman, claiming abuse of power and emotional harm inflicted by the coach. Despite reporting the abuse to the athletic director, she felt ignored and unsupported.
Cooper’s documentary premiered at the Tribeca Festival, where she shared her story in a Q&A session. The outpouring of support from former players for Coach Feldman has highlighted the complexity of addressing and responding to allegations of misconduct within collegiate sports programs.
