This new show, created by KJ Steinberg of This Is Us, not only stars Grace Van Patten but is also executive produced by Knox herself, along with her husband Chris Robinson, Monica Lewinsky, Michael Uppendahl, and The Littlefield Company. The cast includes other talented actors like Sharon Horgan, John Hoogenakker, Francesco Acquaroli, Giuseppe De Domenico, and Roberta Mattei.
For those unfamiliar with the case, back in 2007, Knox and her then-boyfriend were accused of killing her roommate, Meredith Kercher, while studying abroad in Italy. Knox was found guilty in 2009 but was acquitted two years later. However, the Italian courts then ordered a retrial in 2013, sentencing Knox to over 28 years in prison. Thankfully, her conviction was overturned in 2015 after DNA evidence pointed to a different perpetrator.
Since her experiences, Knox has used her platform to advocate for criminal justice and prevent the wrongful convictions of others. She even penned a bestselling memoir and participated in a documentary on Netflix.
One interesting twist in Knox’s story is her reconciliation with the prosecutor in her case, Dr. Giuliano Mignini. Through their developing friendship, Knox found compassion and understanding for the man who played a significant role in her past.
