NWSL Commissioner Jessica Berman is excited to bring the championship game back to the West Coast, specifically to the Bay Area, a region with a rich history in women’s soccer. The Bay Area has produced top talent like Julie Foudy, Alex Morgan, Kelley O’Hara, and the Founding Four of Bay FC – Brandi Chastain, Leslie Osborne, Danielle Slaton, and Aly Wagner. With strong college programs like Santa Clara and Stanford, the Bay Area is the perfect place to showcase the league’s best players and crown the next champion.
Bay FC Co-Founder and USWNT Legend Brandi Chastain expressed her joy at hosting the championship game in a region where women’s soccer has deep roots. The Bay Area has a strong connection to the sport, from producing national team players to being home to the first-ever professional domestic league champions.
With the 2025 season showing promising growth and momentum, the NWSL playoffs will feature eight qualifying teams, with the playoffs structure changed to include four quarterfinal matches. The season is set to kick off on the weekend of November 7-9, with various broadcasting partners airing the games leading up to the championship match.
Championship Week will feature events like Fan Fest and the 2025 NWSL Skills Challenge, presented by CarMax, adding to the excitement and celebrations surrounding the final game. PayPal Park, with a seating capacity of around 18,000, will provide an excellent viewing experience for fans with its canopy roof and steep seating design.
