Reality TV Contestant Leaves Show After Racist Videos Resurface
Yulissa Escobar, a contestant on season 7 of “Love Island USA,” made a sudden exit from the villa during the latest episode that aired on June 4. The departure was quickly announced by narrator Iain Stirling, catching the other islanders by surprise as they woke up on day 2. Despite the brief mention on the show, Peacock has confirmed that Yulissa has indeed left for good.
The reason behind Yulissa’s departure stems from clips resurfacing of her using racial slurs during podcast appearances. In the footage obtained by TMZ, Yulissa is heard using the N-word multiple times while discussing her dating experiences. Fans who saw these clips expressed outrage on social media and even vowed to vote her off the show. One viewer questioned the vetting process, asking what the producers had done before casting Yulissa on the show.
Following the news of her exit, some viewers celebrated while others continued to express their disappointment and concerns. Yulissa has chosen to stay quiet amidst the backlash, turning off comments on her Instagram posts. Before leaving, Yulissa was romantically paired with TikTok personality Ace Green, leaving him single and at risk of elimination during the next recoupling. However, it seems that Ace may have found a connection with another islander, Chelley Bissainthe, who is currently coupled up with Austin Shepard.
In addition to Ace, Chelley, and Austin, the remaining contestants on “Love Island USA” season 7 include Jeremiah Brown, Olandria Carthen, Charlie Georgiou, Huda Mustafa, Cierra Ortega, Nicolas Vansteenberghe, Belle-A Walker, and Taylor Williams. Both Charlie and Belle-A are also at risk of elimination in the upcoming episodes.
New episodes of “Love Island USA” premiere on Peacock at 9 p.m. ET every day except Wednesdays. Stay tuned for more updates and drama from the villa as the season progresses.
