Owen Wilson’s Film “Stick” Follows the Success of “Ted Lasso” Formula
If you’re like me and not a huge golf fan, but can appreciate it on the big screen, Apple TV+ has a new series worth checking out. Stick follows the classic sports movie formula, but with a twist. Owen Wilson stars as Pryce Cahill, a washed-up former golf pro looking for redemption. He teams up with a talented young golfer named Santi and sets out on a journey to make him a pro. Along the way, they form a makeshift family with Pryce’s ex-wife, Santi’s mom, and a mysterious character named Zero.
The show, created by Jason Keller of Ford v. Ferrari fame, has a strong cast and chemistry. Wilson, Maron, Dager, and Treviño all bring their A-game to the series, creating a warm and engaging atmosphere. Stick may not reach the heights of Ted Lasso yet, but it’s off to a solid start. The first three episodes are available now, and the show has already generated buzz on Apple TV+. With a two-season order in place, Stick might just become a new favorite for sports and dramedy lovers alike.
