“King of the Hill Reunion at ATX TV Festival for Hulu Revival”
Fans of the hit animated show “King of the Hill” were in for a treat at the recent ATX TV Festival in Austin, Texas. Co-creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels, along with executive producer Saladin K. Patterson, and voice cast members Pamela Adlon, Lauren Tom, and Toby Huss came together for a heartfelt and humorous reunion.
The panel not only celebrated the legacy of the original 13-season run but also gave fans a sneak peek at the upcoming revival, set to premiere on Hulu on August 4. The revival picks up years after the original finale, with Hank and Peggy returning to a changed Arlen, Texas, while Bobby pursues his culinary dreams in Dallas.
During the weekend, it was also announced that Jonathan Joss, who voiced the fan-favorite character John Redcorn, had passed away at the age of 58. Joss, of Lipan Apache and Comanche descent, played a crucial role in elevating Native representation in mainstream animation.
The cast reminisced about their favorite moments, character arcs, and the realistic portrayal of everyday life that made the show a hit with audiences spanning generations. Pamela Adlon described the show as a “television building block” in her creative career, while Mike Judge emphasized the importance of creating a show that felt authentic and relatable.
The panel also took a moment to honor the original cast members who have since passed, including Johnny Hardwick and Brittany Murphy. New cast member Toby Huss, now voicing Dale Gribble, paid tribute to Hardwick, saying, “Johnny was one-of-a-kind… all I’m trying to do is hold on to his Dale-ness.” Judge confirmed that Hardwick would appear in six episodes of the new season.
Hulu unveiled a first look at the updated opening sequence and announced that the ten-episode season would debut on Monday, August 4, 2025. Stay tuned for more updates on the highly anticipated revival of “King of the Hill” on Hulu.
